My name is Graham Benton and I am the owner of Benton Arboriculture. In this section I hope to tell you a little about myself and my passion for trees and their care.
Whilst carrying out work experience with the rangers at Horton Park in Epsom in my last year at school I discovered my passion for the countryside and subsequently enrolled on a countryside management course at Merrist Wood College in Guildford, Surrey. After completing the course my interest turned to trees and the large part they play in the conservation of our countryside as well as the huge amounts of wildlife they sustain. As a result I enrolled on a National Certificate in Arboriculture course where I covered all aspects of practical tree work as well as obtaining good knowledge of different decays and diseases that affect the health of trees. After two years I qualified but still wanted to learn more and enrolled on a National Diploma in Arboriculture course in order to cover the legal aspect of trees and survey and report writing.
Having qualified as an Arborist, I started my career working for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew at Wakehurst Place where I continued to pursue my interest in trees and their conservation. After a year I decided to spend time looking into the more commercial side of tree work and for two years worked for a local tree surgery company increasing my knowledge wherever possible.
Late in 2006 I made the decision to start my own business and in January 2007 Benton Arboriculture was born. I have not looked back since!
